Welcome to my  calendar
and "about me" page.
Hi, I am Kathy Sheppard .Katlyn, my signature bear insisted on being in this picture!

I have been making bears and stuffed animals for many years, but began professionally marketing them in
1989. I am married and had two dachshunds, who delighted in help me, until just this past year. Pugsley
Muffin went to the Rainbow Bridge on Sept.27, 2001 and Fritz joined her on May 26, 2002. They, along
with  husband, are the inspiration for many of my bears and other creations.

I am past president of "Time for Teddies" and have conducted numerous workshops, seminars, and a
series of guest appearances on TV to demonstate how a teddy bear is created.

I am now a retired, home economics/technology specialist, after having taught home ec and adult education
for 30 years. I began my love of making teddy's when, many years ago, when I bagan using stuffed animal
projects for my junior high and adult students to learn basic sewing skills. I was soon addicted to bears and
bear collecting! One thing led to another, and soon I was making and selling my own teddy bears!

The name of my company and line of bears is inspired by my gulf-front home in Central Florida. I live in a
designated bird and wildlife sanctuary---hence the name,
Sheppard Seabear Sanctuary.

My identifying logo/tag is based on the name of my company and my initials with a teddy bear holding on
to the base of the ""S".  My bears are the old fashioned style, fully jointed, made of mohair with a hump
and growler/music box.  My love of cross-stitch. machine embroidery and silk ribbon embrodery is
reflected in the design of the bears  I do everything on the bears, from design to completion, myself.

Please email me if you have any questions or want some info about any of the bears.
